Villa Description

Casa Caleta is in a new development on the west side of Yal ku lagoon in Akumal Mexico. The house is not accessed from Akumal, but from a private road a little north of Akumal's main entrance, on the east side of highway 307. This small neighborhood of houses is between highway 307 and Yal ku lagoon. All the houses are built back from the lagoon's edge. Only two are closest to Yal ku and Casa Caleta is one of them. The spaciousness of Casa Caleta is one of its most striking features. That and the natural elements of jungle, water, stone and wood, all brought together in a beautiful architectural design that emphasizes spaciousness and the great outdoors. The crowning glory of the living room is an incredible "bovida" (brick dome) ceiling that, when illuminated, casts a warm glow on the massive couch below. The overall effect is one of elegance and comfort. The main living area is a tremendous room with a U shaped couch facing the pool and pool side patio. To one side is another smaller couch area with satellite TV, DVD, CD stereo and ½ bath. On the other side of the room is a formal dining room that seats 12 just off the kitchen. All these areas have windows on the jungle and the pool outside. The kitchen is totally equipped with all normal the appliances and accessories, plus a dishwasher, mahogany cabinetry and granite countertops. A full compliment of dishes and glassware is supplied. Four roomy bedrooms are much larger than what you would normally encounter in an average villa. An airconditioned hallway of stone and glass is full of ambient sunlight and leads back to the bedrooms. The first is a suite with two queen beds and couch, plenty of storage, and a private bathroom with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The second bedroom would probably be considered the master suite and has a king bed, couch area, and a private bathroom with open-air jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The third bedroom is the children's room and has eight single beds, four of which are bunk-style with ladders and the other four on the floor. There is also a private bathroom with double open-air showers and double sinks. The fourth bedroom has two queen beds and two single beds. A private bathroom has one open-air shower and one closed shower. All the bedrooms have large garden view windows to let in plenty of indirect sunlight. Outside is a swimming pool (11x30 ft. oval) with a lovely pool-side patio under a palapa roof and perfectly positioned between the living room and pool. This makes entertaining between the house and pool very easy. A short path leads to a small private cenote and then to Yal ku lagoon a little farther on. Your snorkeling sessions can begin here. Yal ku is like a natural aquarium where you can enjoy viewing tropical fish in calm water, protected from all ocean waves. Central Akumal is a quick trip out to the highway and then a ½ mile south to the Akumal exit from the highway. In Akumal you will find numerous restaurants, grocery stores, gift shops, the Lol ha beach bar, and a marvelous main beach with two dive shops and much more.
